Old railroad bed withTea Creek trail runs 200 yards south of this plot. Some young Picea rubens are growing in the Solidago. The surrounding forest is Picea rubens / Betula alleghaniensis. This community type runs from slope to slope and all the way down the opening.;Solidago rugosa forms a dense stand over most of the plot. The greatest diversity is along a small, often dry/damp channels running through the floodplain. The plot is on a series of terraces with the plot center falling on a high terrace. Lots of old beaver sign. The area was historically logged. The surrounding forest could be subject to future logging.
Representativeness
This is typical of drier floodplain or beaver pond drainage areas. A very common early-successional type. This stand is in the floodplain of the right fork of Tea Creek. Large patch community. It is usually a marginal wetland commnunity.
